Touring Utah. Ruth's Diner.

With my mom now in Utah, she's excited about touring, seeing the sights, and trying great restaurants. We've been living in UT quite a long time now, so we've given up touring, but her enthusiasm is contagious, so looks like we're going to get out and see UT in 2010.

Saturday we hit Ruth's Diner.

Ruth's is located just up Emigration Canyon, and while it took me two attempts to find it I now know where Emigration Canyon is and that alone is an accomplishment.

Nestled in the mountain side, its a darling little place. I ate my dinner beneath a picture of Ruth, a little dog in one hand and a cigarette in another. A fine reminder that health code restrictions have really improved the dining experience in the last 50 years. :)

Between all of us we sampled the Halibut and Chips, Pot Roast, Mac and Cheese and Southern Fried Chicken. Fried Chicken, which is a new addition to the menu according to our waitress, was the winner. The perfect combination of crispy skin and tender meat. I think we are all ordering that on our next visit.

It was a perfect outing for a gray, Saturday afternoon -- mountain setting, hot, delicious food and a lovely bathroom. Brynn goes to the bathroom everywhere she goes, usually twice. Until Saturday her favorite bathroom was at Cafe Rio, but Ruth's had pink and purple tile and plants in pink ceramic flamingo pots. I'm sure you will agree, that's going to be hard to top.

Stay tuned to see where we pop up next!
