Bargaining Overheard.
On the way home from preschool, Grace and Brynn had a serious discussion.
B: Grace, on March 17th I'm going to catch a leprechaun.
G: There's no such thing as leprechauns.
B: Oh yes there is. And they have rainbows and you know what is at the end of those rainbows? Pots. And do you know what is in those pots?
G: Gold?
B: (wide, serious eyes) That's right, but not just gold. You know what else?
G: What?
B: Candy. Gold candy. Like chocolate. And when you catch him, he has to give you his pot, even the candy. And if you help me catch him, I might split the pot and give you half.
G: Hey, mom. Is there such a thing as leprechauns?
M: (noncommittal response) Um...not really sure.
G: (after a long, contemplative pause) Ok, I'll help you.
Amazing what you will agree to, for even just the wishful hope of candy.
