Travel Blog - Day 5: Sunday

Somehow we managed to get all 18 of us to church, 30 mins away, on time. Seems like a fairly significant feat. The Nags Head ward meets in a tiny little building that is cultural hall and chapel in one. There are no permanent pews, just big accordion doors that close off the pulpit when it is not in use. It seems like a nice little ward, though it is impossible to tell how big it really is. Sounds like they get a lot of sacrament meeting visitor in the summer. There was talk of starting a log book to find out where people were visiting from.

It was a nice fast and testimony meeting. There was a lot of talk about the family of the gospel. Apparently the Nags Head ward got 800 visitors on Memorial Day. 800! Can you imagine? We normally attend church in what we call a small chapel, but it is at least twice the size of the Nags Head building. There is no way we could fit 800 people in our building, so I can't imagine how they squished them all into this one. Apparently they were in the halls and all the rooms. They had folks outside directing the parking. They must have been filled to the rafters, but it sounds like it was a great experience.
